Second Bedroom This wood-paneled bedroom comprises a double bed with the inscrip- tion “Barbara Kreiling 1861“ and a verse which loosely translates as “I sleep like a child until I rise again and punish sin”. The attractive chest is adorned with a lock. On the chest of drawers there is a small altar which shows the deep piety and the importance of Christian values. This room was used by guests as well as serving as temporary quarters for older children. You may remember the small opening above the stove in the kitchen. This provided the only source of warmth for the room. 24
