Bee House The bee house was originally located at the farm “Geigen”, on the Sonn- berg in Kitzbühel. Sugar in the form we find it today was not readily available so bees sup- plied the farm with honey which was spread on bread or used to sweeten flour based meals and was a very welcome treat! The beeswax was used to make candles. Most bee houses were built on stilts to make it more difficult for the mice to access and steal the precious honeycomb. The bee house here is not built on stilts. 31
